An opportunity has developed for a nurse, physiotherapist or doctor with clinical MSK/rheumatology experience to apply for a 3-year salaried PhD fellowship with Keele University, exploring axial inflammation in patients with psoriasis. Supervision from Dr Jon Packham, consultant rheumatologist / honorary clinical senior lecturer in Stoke-on-Trent.

 The main responsibilities of the post would be to:

a)     provide the clinical research component of an NIHR programme grant ‘Early detection to improve outcome in patients with undiagnosed psoriatic arthritis’ at Stoke.

b)     undertake a higher degree (PhD or Masters) during the fellowship broadly focussed on axial inflammation, combining data (including radiological) from the programme grant and psoriatic patients attending a back pain service.

 For applicants with right clinical experience, additional clinical sessions within Stoke may be able to be arranged. This provides the potential to increase the duration of the fellowship.
