The DyNAMISM Study – recruiting centres sought

The DyNAMISM study is a large multi-centre study to determine whether NSAIDs use
influences MRI findings in axial spondyloarthritis.  Participants undergo a 1wk wash-out of
NSAIDs prior to an MRI scan, after which they return to normal medication.  Those who scan
positive without NSAIDs are invited for a second MRI after 6wks of returning to NSAID
therapy.

BRITSpA MRI Consensus Statement 2017-2nd meeting

The second meeting of the ongoing BRITSpA led project: Recommendations for acquisition and considerations for interpretation of MRI of the spine and sacroiliac joints (SIJ) in the investigation of axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) in the UK was held in London on the 13th of December 2017.

Selected Abstracts 2017

This year BRITSpA run its second abstract competition, with twelve submissions considered and four delegates asked to present. The winner of the certificate and cheque for £500 was Tim Bray (London) who gave an excellent presentation of his work entitled “A tiny bit of white on MRI”- objective definitions of oedema and fat metaplasia in spondyloarthritis”.

What’s new in axSpA: Highlights from EULAR 2017

This year’s EULAR in the beautiful city of Madrid was “hot” indeed! And not only relating to the high temperatures but to some of the data presented.
